| salvage retention policy What is the name of your state? CA
I was in an accident and the insurance company of the other vehicle involved accepted liability. They offered what seemed like a reasonable settlement for my totaled car, but then deducted $800+ because they won't keep the wrecked car, and this is the "salvage retention fee."
Now I find I'm saddled with all sorts of charges associated with disposing of the wrecked vehicle that I'm told I'm responsible for paying (paying to store it at the body shop until I get the title which is in CA (I'm now in Virginia), then paying to tow it to the auction place, and finally paying them to auction it off) even though when the body shop appraised it as a total loss I signed a form releasing it to the insurance company. Can I make the insurance company pay these charges? Can I hold them responsible for disposing of the salvaged vehicle?
Thanks for any help. |
