Sandwiched between two cars...

What is the name of your state? WA State

Traffic all of a sudden stopped VERY short while everyone was driving 40mph at rush hour. I was able to stop, but the vehicle behind me was blinded by the sun and hit water and slid into me, pushing me forward into another vehicle. I do not have insurance. The driver who pushed me into the other vehicle doesn't either, nor does he have a driver's license. The driver in the front does have insurance. No one filed a police report. It was initially agreed that the driver who ran into me would work out some arrangements to cover the damage costs for both vehicles (only verbally, but did exchange all information). Is he obligated legally to do this if no report was filed of the accident? Or if he backs out, would we only be left to file a civil suit against him to claim damages? Can the person whom I was pushed into file a claim with their insurance, being that no accident report was filed? If so, am I at fault for hitting her, and the other driver only for hitting me?

I am very confused by all of this. Any help (no flames) would be appreciated. Thanks!

So you answer the question with another question?? I don't see how that has anything to do with my question anyhow, it is just a fact of the matter. I didn't ask for flames on this question, just helpful answers.

If you must know....it was a choice of food for my family or pay for insurance. Which would you choose in such a situation?

You better hope the car ahead of you does not claim they felt two impacts. If they do, you will be on the hook with the car that hit you. You also better hope the car behind you does not claim they saw you hit the car first before they bumped you. Either scenario

The insurance company for the car you were pushed into will pay for the vehicle repairs. If the occupants also claim injury, they will proceed with a uninsured motorist claim against their own carrier.

Now once their carrier pays out all the money they are obligated to pay, the carrier will come after you and the other driver.

Was there a police report? If yes, you face the possibility of having your license suspended for lack of insurance. You will be required to purchase auto insurance before your license suspension can be lifted. Even if there is no police report, the other carrier may file a notice with the DMV and your license will be suspended.

Better start saving money.

Thank you for your response. If the vehicle who was hit that had insurance, just agrees to let us pay for the damages and we do so, can they after the fact decide they want to make an insurance claim of some sort? Or if we get it in writing that everything is said and done, would that be enough?

**A: I would choose to buy food and not drive without insurance.

And you are obviously so holy that if the only other mode of transportation (bus [bike or walking = even longer]) took you 5 hours each way to your job = 10 hours commuting plus 9 hours on the job, that you would still make the same choice? Or wait maybe you would just choose to quit that job and work at mcdonalds 1 block from your house (would you like fries with that?).

Maybe that is why so many people are just inclined to sell drugs out of their home instead. And people like YOU see no reason why they would feel that way because you are by the book, when LIFE and GOVERNMENT and PEOPLE and BUSINESS isn't by the book. Only one who is by the book is GOD. Yet not many people can agree on that either.

**A: the last time I looked, Washington state law requires auto insurance.
My point is that you were not in compliance with the law period. God bless you and God Bless America.
