Should I appeal?

I was involved in a car accident about a month ago in which I was just recently found at fault. I don't feel that I should have been found completely at fault, but maybe I am wrong. I was at a stop sign on a side street intersected with a main road. I observed a van signaling to turn right onto the street I was coming out of. I then looked right, where no cars were coming. I looked again to the left where the van was slowing with its signal on to turn right. At this point, I proceed through the intersection. A vehicle came around the left of the van, crossing the center lines, then hitting my car at fairly hard impact. I am considering appealing, but not sure it is worth my time.
My question is, is there a restriction on passing a vehicle making a right, and in doing so, crossing the center lines? Also, are there restrictions in proceeding through an intersection when a vehicle on the left is signaling to turn right into the street you are coming out of, after stopping at the stop sign?
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated!

My response:

From your description, you're at fault.

The other vehicle was apparently trying to avoid you when it crossed the center line. You impeded the other vehicle's right of way.

I tried to be brief in my description, but to clear something up...The other vehicle crossed center lanes to pass the vehicle taking the right, not to avoid hitting my vehicle.

My response:

No change in opinion. His crossing the line had nothing to do with "causation." It's as if you put a brick wall in the way of oncoming traffic.
