I work for a non-profit human service agency. Part of my job is to transport teen parents and their babies to and from appointments. There are 11 workers, including myself, who do this. The agency has one vehicle, so we are forced to use our own cars. On Friday a member of the police dept. came over to show us the proper way to install and use a carseat. What an eye opener. We had been doing this all wrong. We are now concerned about the liability of transporting clients in our own vehicles, as well as the agency vehicle, when it's available. I have $300,000 auto insurance policy and I know that this is not enough in the event I should be sued. My question is this: Can I be sued beyond the coverage amount and lose everything my husband and I have worked so hard for all our lives? If using the agency van, and I have an accident that's my fault, can I still be sued personally? Any assistance you can give in this matter would be appreciated. We are all anxious for a reply so that we can take the necessary steps to protect ourselves and our families. Molly
