Stolen truck ends up in Mexico

What is the name of your state? California.
My truck was stolen from in front of my house, truck locked and alarm was set.
Made the claim to Mercury insurance and initially they seemed on the ball.
We agreed on a settlement amount that would be paid at the end of 30 days unless the truck was recovered. At approx. 24 days in I was discussing the settlement with my "total loss appraiser" when she mentioned that they had found my truck in Mexico the week before. She was shocked that my adjuster hadn_t contacted me regarding this. I've yet to ever get a call back from my so called adjuster. My sole contact is with a supervisor that I can get a hold of after repeated dialing. She was surprised that I hadn_t been contacted but basically said "oh well." It_s now going on six weeks since my truck was stolen and it's been sitting in Mexico for three weeks. The supervisor at Mercury said sometimes it can take months to recover a vehicle from Mexico. Mercury covered my rental car for the first thirty days and that's it. Apparently Mercury has a picture showing the truck in good shape and they believe it is worth the trouble to bring it back to the states. Do I truly have to wait potentially months for them to bring the truck back and then however long it takes to repair whatever is wrong? I had been shopping for a new truck and was under the impression they were calling it a total loss, until the chance conversation where it came up. I finally received a letter from my adjuster (after the 30 days) explaining the truck was in Mexico and sit tight. Any help is appreciated. What is the name of your state?

Do you always repeat yourself like this?

Leave another message. Explain that if they don't respond by Wednesday evening, you will file a complaint with the department of insurance. Since they have found your vehicle, don't expect for them to offer cash. Do explain, though, that while THEY are figuring out what to do, that you need a rental, since it is not YOUR fault that they vehicle has not be recovered.
