Sued 3 years later

My son in Illinois was involved in a read end accident three years ago at then 17 and was fully insured. He has never heard from the involved party until now. He is being sued. What can be done.

He should contact the insurance company that he had at the time of the accident. They may be obligated to provide legal counsel and assist in defending himself in the lawsuit.
