Time Frame

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I reside in NY state. I filed a claim with the other party"s auto insurance company on 10/15/08. They had problems contacting their insured and was told they have 30 days to do so. How long from the time I filed the claim(10/15/08)with the insurance company do they have to offer me a settlement?.It has been over two months now from the time I filed the claim. And I do not have an offer. Are they required to file an extention with me?. Or at this time. Are they required to settle with me in full. And pay me the total cost of the repairs to my auto. And all related expenses?.Thank you, Elly

You have the patience of Job. After a few weeks of inaction I would have filed a claim with my insurance if I had full coverage, after 30 days I would have filed a lawsuit against the at fault party. Because of your delay, you may not be fully compensated. I would suggest talking to an attorney, the sooner the better.

There is no time limit imposed by law. The investigation takes as long as it takes. Was there a police report or any witnesses?
