traffic court

I heard that if you get a ticket and make a court date, you can request when the officer is or is not available that particular court date and if the policeman doesn't show, the judge can throw out the ticket. Is this true or is there a way I can avoid getting another point on my driving record?... I already have a traffic school date next month...

You can take the chance, but my husband is a police officer, and if you reschedule here, they let them know at the first court date, and every time a ticket is resheduled, he recieves notice. If an officer is going to be on vacation, the officer can reshedule. We live in TN, and it may not be like that everywhere, but you can pretty much count on officers in this town to be in court.
