I live in Michigan in Ingham county. Being a land owner if a person is driving past your house and runs off the road hitting the tree in your front yard are you in any way going to have legal action taking against you because you are the land owner? Also the county claims they have 33 feet right of way from the center of the road and claim that if this did happen they and us as land owners could be held legally responsible.I agree with their 33 feet right of way but, not sure of legal responsibility.County want to remove tree to put in bike trail and think tree would be too close to road. They are saying people would be more likely to hit it and telling us we could also be held legally responsible if this did happen. We want the tree saved even if they have to guard rail it.
