| | | Turned in Lease, Charging for fixed accident What is the name of your state? Marylan
Last december I turned in my Saturn lease, which I had for 3 years. In the first year I got into an accident. I took the car in an got everything repaired.
So I turned in the car last december. Just now, February 05, I get a notice that I have to pay $2000 on the car for Core frame damage and paint flaws. When I called the place they said they noticed it had a paint job, i asked if it was a bad paint job and they said "No, but we could tell it had one". They also said they could tell the core frame was replaced. So, i asked if it "was replaced improperly" and they replied "No, but we could tell it was replaced."
So, why are they charging me for this? I feel like I am getting screwed here. Can they relaly get away with this. People lease cars all the time and get into accidents. If everything is repaired properly why should I have to pay for the damage again? |

As far as the 2nd part of your question a lawyer would be better to answer that than me. Personally, I've never paid it nor been sued over it, but MD is not where I adjust claims and there may be a different ruling in that state over this matter. |

Your responsibility on a lease is to turn in the vehicle in the appropriate condition for its mileage. If you had an accident and it's been fixed properly, then they can't charge you for that. If the paint job is bad, they can charge you for that since they've determined that it wasn't fixed properly. |
