uninsured but lucky??

What is the name of your state? CA
i stupidly let my insurance expire and before i could renew, i got into a car accident. it was my fault, very minor damage on both our parts--nothing medical. the other party contacted his insurance company but did not reveal that i was uninsured. the insurance company called me and asked for my insurance policy. i didn't call back. the next day, the other driver called me and said let's just settle w/o dealing w/insurance. he will not file claim w/insurance company, said he just panicked after accident and called them but agreed not to go through them. he will be faxing me an estimate which i have agreed to pay in cash.

do i still need to deal with his insurance company--ie do they need to know that i was uninsured and, if so, will they report it to DMV? will my license be suspended?

i have since signed up for insurance but since my car is going to need to get fixed, will i need to report the accident to my new insurance company?

i am willing to do whatever i need to do to make the situation right--I know it was my fault in not renewing insurance. but if i can avoid getting my license suspended (ie having DMV find out), that would be great. thanks a lot.

If you pay for the other persons damages and absorb the cost of your own repair, I see no requirement for anyone (DMV) to know of your uninsured status.... this time!!

When you pay the bill(s), be sure to get a signed Release from the other driver..... oh, and go out and get insurance. You may not be so 'lucky' next time.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!
