Vermont. My friend purchased a new car about a week ago at an auction; It is a junker Subaru but great for Winters here in vermont. He was stopped on his way home from driving it from the mechanics where he got it and was ticketed $136.00 for drivign without Registration and another $136.00 for driving without insurance.

I am a new law school student and pulled up Vermont Statutes covering Motor Vehicles.

Title 23, Chapter 7 23 V.S.A. 301.00 Persons required to register states that "Residents as defined in section 4 of this title . . . shall annually register motor vehicles owned or leased for a period of more than thirty days and operated by them, unless currently registered in Vermont.

Does this mean that since it was only about a week since the purchase, he still has the 30 days period to Register??? HELP!
