Insurance companies will offer you the minimum. They are there to make money and if they can get you to take the minimum, they will bend truths to do so.
Get a good lawyer and let him/her deal with the insurance companies. They will get their cut from the insurance company and you will get more than what you expect. Including lost wages even if you were paid for the time off. It won't be called lost wages, but you will get compensation.
My spouse was rear ended about 15 years ago. She was offered $1200 from the other insurance company. That wouldn't have even covered the neck and back physical therapy bill. She was also pregnant with my oldest (fortunately no damage was done to the baby). The insurance company wanted her to settle ASAP. They contacted her within days and pressured her to take it NOW. She didn't. She got a lawyer and came out of it with $16,000. Don't let them cut you short because someone else was negligent.
