What to do if an insurance company is sueing me

My wife had an accident last year. It was my wife's fault.
We got our car repaired ok through my insurance company.
However, the damage to the other car caused a problem.

The insurance company of the other driver repaired her car
first and then claimed the money from my insurance company.
However, my insurance company is only willing to pay half
of the claim (I do not why yet). Now the insurance company
of the other driver sues my wife for the claim on behalf of
the other driver. What should I do?

I thought the other insurance company should sue my insurance
company, not my wife.

I know that I should talk to my insurance company next week.
But what if my insurance company does not care?

What are the dollar amounts of your insurance coverage? How much is the other insurance company saying the total damages were to their insured's vehicle?
