What should I do

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AZ
OK,
I was dumb and let my son drive my car. He was never on my insurance. I recieved a call from him stating he hit a car in a parking lot and damaged there bumper. I Immeditally went down there. I found out that morning that my insurance had been canclled so i called to re-start the insurance while I was driving there. When I got there no one was around so I called the police to find out if I needed to report it. They told me no I should just get ahold of the party I hit and exchange info. I did find the lady and told her I hit the car so my son wouldnt get into trouble. However now my insurance company is investigating this as the claim was on the day the insurance was started. I stated to them i called before I left home to get insurance but now they want my cell phone records of when I called the Police and it was only 3 minutes after I started the insurance and I could not possibly have gotten from my home to this area in 3 minutes. I Understand I did wrong however Im woundering what will happen when the Insurance company finds out that the insurance was started after the accident and what I should do now.

you can try to cancel the claim, pay for the damage to the other car out-of-pocket and try to move one...however, your insurance may still try to get some criminal charges filed against you...that's up to them.

I always wonder why people play these games with their car insurance. It just doesn't make sense. Good luck.

There's not going to be a criminal charge, but the claim will be denied. You might as well tell them the truth and save everyone a lot of hassle.
