What is the name of your state? virginia
My boyfriend and I share a vehicle and about a month ago, I was involved in an auto accident. The roads were slick, there was ice and snow on the ground and it was raining. I slid past a stop sign and hit a school bus. The school bus spun and hit 3 other cars. Of all the people involved only 8 went to the hospital. I now have at least 22 lawsuits that have been filed. I have no assets but my house is in his and my name. Since I was driving and my name was also on the insurance policy, is my boyfriend liable for any compensation not covered by the insurance company or myself? Am I at fault for something that I had no control over?

My response:

Well, unless you had a one million dollar, or more, liability policy, you may as well declare bankruptcy. If not, you can probably kiss your house goodbye.

And yes, you're at fault. It doesn't matter that the roads were icy, slick, or whatever. Since you were driving, you had a duty to maintain control over your vehicle.
