who's responsible for the rental insurance?

What is the name of your state? Texas

If someone wrecks your car and their insurance has to rent you a vehicle are you responsible for that rental insurance if your insurance does not cover rental cars?

My son works for a rental place. He says I'd be a fool not to take the rental company's insurance. If anything happens I'm completely covered.

He also says that they never see the "other" company pay for the insurance, its usually up to you.

My vehicle was recently wrecked,( which is why he explained this stuff to me) and he says the other guy's insurance would try to short change me on the days they rent it for. and they tried. He says that happens all the time. So I talked to the rental company and then the other insurance covered the rental until I got the check. Actually it was enterprise, and they're pretty big so it helped. I'm not trying to advertise them, ( it gets my son nothing if I say I liked them) but here in NC at least, and maybe elsewhere, unlimited mileage.
