Daughter(19) rear ended someone while driving in Texas 2 years ago. Driver settled, 3 days before 2 yr aniversary driver sues for other occupant. I am named in suit. Why? Will I be liable if settlement exceeds liability limits? Would bankruptcy negate settlement?

"Why?"
*** There could be many reasons why the plaintiff named you in the lawsuit. One of which is that you are the registered owner of the vehicle.

"Will I be liable if settlement exceeds liability limits?"
*** Depending on the specifics, you could be.

"Would bankruptcy negate settlement?"
*** Possibly. The bankruptcy filing would put a stay on any claims being made. The court will then determine whether bankruptcy should be granted or not.
