| wind from airport runway blows over weighted down canopy onto vehicle What is the name of your state? North Carolina I was cooking at a bbq cook-off, a sudden powerful burst of wind from the airport runway, picked my 10x10 weighted down conopy, and it landed on another mans vehicle. The runway was very busy with air traffic. The bbq event organizer had told the man he could park in the cooking area because the cooks parking area was full of unauthorized cars. The event had plainly stated 2 specific things in the cooks info packet. 1. no stakes to be driven into the asphalt for tents. 2. No vehicles to be parked in the cooking area. While the event organizer was trying to get the unauthorized cars moved out of the cooks parking lot, so the man could properly park, is when the wind picked up the canopy and it crashed into the vehicle. The event organizer said not to worry that they had insurance for this type of things, that they would pay for the mans vehicle and try to get me a new canopy also. Now the insurance does not want to pay anyone for anything. Now the owner of the vehicle wants me to pay over 3 thousand dollars for getting his truck repaired. I dont have home owners insurance, and no auto insurance, because I dont drive, and I dont have 3 thousand dollars either. The event took place in a parking lot located next to the airport, on a city owned baseball stadium. Am I liable to pay the guy for the damages to his truck? The event was put together by the Southwest business assoc. which has nothing to do with the baseball stadium.
