What is the name of your state? VA
Five months ago a volunteer firefighter was injured while getting out of a firetruck. He applied for and has been getting significant workmans compensation since - doctor says he is not able to work. However, since that time this person has continued to run fire calls (climbing in and out of firetrucks/ambulances, lifting patients, tugging on fire hoses, etc). I am accustomed to fire departments putting those whom the doctor has decreed as "injured" on a "sick list" and excusing their duty requirements. This, however, appears to be an abuse of the workmans comp benefits and he brags that he draws this money while sitting on this rear. It just seems odd that he can draw money from an injury because the doctor says he's debilitated, yet still gets around like nothing is going on. Should he be allowed to continue volunteering while he is injured (as decreed by a doctor)?
