About a bounced check

What is the name of your state?
Oklahoma

About 1 month ago, my wife bounced a check at our local Walmart. This was a small check and she was unaware that it was going to bounce. The check itself was small ( Under $40 ). Recently we have been receiving nasty messages on our answering machine stating that we now owe Walmart a $20 fee. To my knowledge her checking account has overdraft protection. I guess my question is this. Does she owe Walmart a fee in addition to to the overwithdrawn fee she has already paid to her bank, or are they just trying to squeeze a little more out of her while they can.As I found in a later case online where a women did the same thing, seven years later they started to contact her again, however to my knowledge aren't their phone calls to me in violation of the FDCPA and the FCA (disclosure wise)??What is the name of your state?

C'mon....Pay the $20.00 fee and move on! You've got to have more important things to worry about.

Well does the account have overdraft protection or not?

If the check bounced, it would appear not. $20 is a small fee concerning a bounced check. Around me it is about twice that. The fees (in any state I am aware of) is legal.

If it did bounce, you owe. Pay up or forever be harrassed (legally). If Wal-Mart really wants to get nasty (which I have heard IS the way they do business) you could end up paying alot more before all is said and done.

I have heard that Wal-mart can get a bit nasty when it comes to these fees. I did have plans of paying this ( Actually a $25 fee ) but I couldn't help but wonder if what they were doing was wrong. I certainly don't want this to snowball into something worse. Thanks for the advice from everyone.
