Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

california,
from what i can tell i used the 1000 free hours disk one time to get my internet hookup started, then switched to earthlink right away, then a few months later i started being billed for aol, a few months after that they started billing me more than once a month and also billed me for something called auto advantage.

Typical AOL tactic, they do this ALL the time !!

If you are not insanely diligent in sending them cancellation letters and insisting on a cancellation acknowledgement in writing, once you sign up with them, they will do this forever ! AOL is the 800-pound gorilla of the Internet Service Providers. Did you ever contact them to cancel your membership ??? Not using the 1000 hours of the trial or ever using their services isn't enough. Once you sign up, they've got you.. and you have to get really tenacious to get rid of them. My brother had to write no less than 6 letters to make them stop billing him even after they cancelled his account !!!

There ya go ! Be prepared, you may have to do it more than once to make them stop.

I don't know if there's any way to resolve the bank problem though, maybe Halket or someone else knows.

When you signed up with AOL, did you authorize automatic withdrawls from your account to pay them ???

Yeah.. right..

no obligation.. you have the right to cancel at any time BEFORE the trial runs out before they bill you ! This is one of AOHell's favorite tactics to get subscribers.

You can try calling them and cancelling, but be prepared for their goofy arguments. Make sure you still follow up in writing.
