Authorized user liability

What is the name of your state? North Carolina

I posted a message a while ago about my wife being sued by a CC and asking about my liability as an authorized user. Someone replied that I wasn't liable, but this guy from the agency that is handling their case assured me that since I used the credit card for some purchases I'm also liable. Is this true, even if the CC assured me that is not a joint account and I'm not liable for it?

Also, just to confirm this, according to NC law the first $5000 in personal property as well as the tax return are exempt from being seized right?

Collection agencies lie. It happens all the time. They want their money and will do whatever it takes to get it. If you didn't sign an agreement to pay making it a joint account, then you're not liable for payment JUST because you used the card.
