Bad Credit at a young age

What is the name of your state? TX.
I am writing to figure out how to solve my credit issue. Currently I have two credit cards in my name. I have continued to make big and small payments ontime. When I was a minor my mother put me down as an authorized signer on her two credit cards. Currently my mother has turned those credit cards into debt collections because of financial trouble. Since my name was on her account, my credit has turned for the worse. Now at 23, I am trying to make a living for myself, car, possible house, credit cards but that blemish is hurting my credit. Is there a way or anything to be removed from my mother’s credit problems or am I scared for a long time?

If your mother only put you as an authorized signer, then those accounts should not be appearing on your credit report. They should only be on your credit report if you are/were a joint account holder.

If you're truly just an authorized signer, have your mother call and remove you from the account. You should also send debt validation letters to the creditors listed for the credit cards (CMRRR).

Authorized users do get put on credit reports. However, they are easy to get rid of. Dispute with the credit bureaus, as it is NOT your account. Your mother may also be able to call and request you be taken off as an AU. Send everything by CMRR.
