Bank teller error in my favor

undefinedWhat is the name of your state? South Carolina. I went into the bank to cash a check for 2000.00. the check was made out to me but i im not an account holder at this particular bank. I showed my ID and after waiting 15 - 20 min for them to verify the signiture etc. the teller counted the money 3 X but not in front of me and not to me. She put the money in a envelope put it on the counter and said thank you have a good night. When i got home there was a message for me to call the bank, they were already gone by the time i called. I took out the envelope and counted the money and they overpaid me by 500.00 what are my legal resposibilities and what should i do.

Return the money. They know who you are and they will pursue this. You are obligated to do the HONEST thing and return the money.
