behind in my credi cards

What is the name of your state? Oregon
I am behind in my credit card payments and the companies are calling me - at home and at work.
I just need another month to get past this.
If I tell them to stop calling me and only contact me only via mail are they required to do so?

If you're dealing with the Original Creditors (OC), then no, they do not HAVE to honor a cease and desist, but many will, particularly if its a request to stop calling you at work - you just need to say that your employer forbids such calls and your job could be in jeopardy - if you lose your job because of their calls, then they'd likely get ZERO dollars from you.

Bottom line, OC's can do just about anything they want, they are not bound by the FDCPA as 3rd party collectors are -- which is a travesty - OC's can pull some VERY nasty stuff that no CA could get away with legally. The OC collection dogs need a muzzle....
