I just got served by a collection agency for an old credit card debt that the statute of limitation has passed. What can I file as answer to this lawsuit?

Disputes: You can write a letter of dispute to the three credit reporting agencies.

You need to file a response with the court that the debt is time-barred.

If you are unable or unwilling to hire an attorney to do this, then go down to the courthouse and speak to one of the clerks in the Court Clerk office. Ask them to show you a sample of a response for a debt that is out of statue.
