Bogus billing for non-existent debt

Access Resource Services Inc, a Florida based company, is attempting collection of a debt that they admitted IN WRITING (via a letter to me) was erroneous. The letter reads BILLED IN ERROR and apologizes. AFTER I got this letter I received a series of payment demand letters and phone calls. Access Resource Services is the Miss Cleo 900 number psychic phone line. I have an excellent credit rating (highest possible rating) and have never missed a payment in my life. My research indicates the company has been sued by the Attorney Generals of three states for bogus billing and other problems. Better Business Bureau has logged thosands of complaints about the company for bogus and fraudulent billing. I have contacted my state Attorney General for assistance. Any other suggestions? Also, it sure would be nice to get some law firm to file a class action suit against these thugs. There are clearly thousands of victims. The material I have indicates people who get new phone numbers get billed for calls they never made. Also, people who call the Miss Cleo psychic 800 number get secretly transferred to the 900 number without their knowledge and then billed.

Why don't you go to Small Claims Court and file a lawsuit against them and the assignee for their obvious violations of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I would suggest suing for $3,000 claiming that each letter constitutes an individual violation of the Act.

Good Luck!
