Bounced CheckWhat is the name of your state? Illinois I bounced a check at K-Mart and I just got a phone call from a collector that stated that if I don't pay right now they will press charges against me in the morning and have me arrested. I will not have the $167.00 for about a week but the collector says she won't wait. What should I do? |

My response: Play "Chicken" with them. Wait until you get the money. Then, come back and tell us if you got arrested. IAAL |

| Did K-Mart ever attempt to contact you about paying the check ? Did you not get any notice from your bank that the check bounced ? How long ago did this happen? How much was the check for ? The collector's threats are LIES and they are a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act as well. The only one who could arrest you is the District Attorney's office if they are the ones who enforce the laws for bad checks. Try calling the K-Mart you owe the money to and see if you can pay them directly.
