credit report entry not mine

What is the name of your state? i live in Ohio. unfortunately, i have another person who lives in the same state that has the same name as i with the exception of a middle initial. she, of course, has a different social security number. she has awful credit and i'm having a problem with her bad history catching up with me. one creditor kept calling me and sending me deliquency notices that i was behind on an auto loan. i repeatedly called this company and explained that it was not me and i had never done business with this company. i requested that they take my phone number and address out of their system. after several attempts, i found a person at this company who seemed willing to help me. she assured me that i would not get anymore calls or mailings and also assured me that my social security number was not in their system so nothing would appear on my credit report. i did stop receiving mailings and calls shortly after but was horrified to find out that this has indeed showed up on my credit report. i did keep written record of the person, time and date that i spoke to this person from this company and hope that it will help me somehow. can someone please offer some advice as to what i might be able to do legally?

Dipute it with the CRA's as "not mine". Good luck and stay vigilant about looking at your credit reports.
