Cap1 sues-wage garnish bad? What is the name of your state? Nebraska Cap1 has hired local attorney, court date set and is sueing my husband for $1000 debt. This debt is included in our monthly debt management program; however, obviously the amount they receive is now not enough. We don't have the $1000 to pay NOW; we have a 2 yr old mortgage w/ hardly any equity, our credit is not good at this time; so, what's the worst that can happen? Is wage garnishment really harmful? Thank you for your advice! ~D |

| Nebraska allows a wage garnishment of up to 25% of your after tax pay. That will put a crimp in the budget of most people. |

| Most of the time, a garnishment covers a whole lot of fees and very, very little payoff each month. Therefore you will be contributing to the very good salaries of some attorneys and court officials, paying alot of interest and late fees. Cap1 will see some of it, but not much. You could be paying 25% of your income for several years for garnishments on a little $1000 debt... and you end up paying WAY more than $1000. In other words, you may not be able to afford to pay off the debts, but you can't afford not to, either. |
