case of mistaken identity

What is the name of your state? New York
I'm looking for advice, please. I just received a copy of my Equifax Credit Report. It contains items belonging to my father, as well as my own items. (We both share same first names, but with different middle names.)There are judgements against my father, of which one is being garnished from my paycheck. I have contacted Equifax to dispute the items and I am awaiting their reply. A law firm has also seized my checking account. That's the reason I checked my credit report. The question I would like to ask is how I go about getting the money back that was seized from my checking account and how do I stop the garnishments.
Any and all comments are appreciated!

You need to see a lawyer, ASAP.

You need to contact the attorney garnishing your wages and explain that they are garnishing the WRONG PERSON. Ask the atty what SSN he has for the person owing the debt. Yours, obviously, is going to be different. You're likely going to have to produce proof that they have made a serious error ! Call the courthouse and see if you can get a copy of the case file for the judgment you're getting garnished for, you'll likely need it to get this mess straightened out. An attorney can do this much faster if you can afford one.

I hope you disputed with the CRA's as 'not mine' on those debts that are your father's . These CRA's have gotten into serious trouble lately over crap like this. Did you send your disputes certified mail ??
