Question

if i have filed chapter 7 more than 7 years ago and have proof of this why would a collection agent be calling trying to collect a debt that has already been dealt whith?

The collection agency is hoping you are ignorant of your rights and that you'll pay. If this particular debt was included in and discharged through your bankruptcy, provide them with a copy of your bankruptcy schedules and a copy of the discharge from the court. That should be the end of it.
