Charge off?

I live in SC. I have many credit accounts which I have not been able to pay the minimum payment on for 6 months. I sent each of them a check with "payment in full" written in the memo section. I also included a letter stating my intent. The checks were cashed, some almost a month ago. Now I am getting letters stating that they will not accept my off, and threatening me with charge offs and worse. What is my recourse if they posted the checks? Can I have this removed from my credit reports?Can they report this on a 1099c as income?
