charged off auto loan

hi, I found your website through google and would like to ask you a few questions.

First, some foundation information. I have co signed an auto loan that was charged off in oct 2004, and i had received papers telling me they were seeking a judgement against me for the sum of the loan. Recently i accessed my credit report and it reads "account charged off/voluntarily surrendered. 4,849 written off." No where on the credit report did it say they received a judgement against me.

My questions are these-- is it possilbe they didn't receive a judgement against me? if i buy a car (i'm paying cash), can they take my car? what does the "4,849 written off" mean? Finally, if i have a second name on the title of the car (saying "my name" AND "the other", can the bank take the car from me?

thank you for your help, time, and reply!
