charged to profit and loss

What is the name of your state? Illinois, but pior residence Wi where car was leased.

Voluntary return of leased vehicle. Question: on my credit report there are 2 areas that have different dates as to when this will be removed. Date of last activity -8/97 date opened - 3/96 date reported 4/98. It upsets me that they sold the car from the lot and I believe for more than what was actually owed on the lease. However, from the dates above when will it be removed?

I wanted to stipulate the $ on my report but was afraid then GMAC would then update again and that - that would keep in on my report longer. Thankyou

The 'key' date is the last activity. From your post, I would assume that this will be subject to dropping off the report 7 years later... about 8/2004.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Ok, thank you. Now that was on equifax and on trans union it shows the dates of verif'd 4/98, opened 3/96 & closed 2/98 status shows the same date of 2/98 write off.

So, does that mean on the equifax it's off earlier than the trans union? if so, how can that be? can I repute the date close to the time with trans so it comes off 8/04?

Your advice is much appreciated and I thank you for taking the time to help all of us!

You don't tell us which of the two reports is the correct one. Obviously, if they are both the same debt, their dates should match. If they don't, you have the right to ask the error be corrected by sending a detailed letter to the CRA (Credit Reporting Agency) and asking them to investigate.

Your right and that is why I don't understand how one would say verif'd 4/98 and the other last date of activity 8/98. You mentioned that the key word was date of last activity, which to me that would also mean last date ver'd on the other. That was my questions is how could they show 2 different dates. Thank you.

"date of last activity' is generally the last payment or last charge, not the last time it was verified by the CRA.

Do you know for sure when the last payment was ? If not, dig up records. You have to have something to dispute the incorrect entry with and you have to have some idea what the correct entry should be.

Also, it is very common for reports at different CRA's to have different information. That is one of the problems with dealing with literally MILLIONS of pieces of data everyday..... and why the FCRA gives you the right to request an investigation and correction.
