circuit city CC

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? IN
I just received my Circuit City CC bill today and they raised my min. to 55 a month. It was 20 a month. I am off work for over a year because I am going though social security case for a disorder. I receive about 1600 a year and have child support, which is 140 a month, and other bills. I called them today and the lady I talked to in the Hard Ship department said she will put me on a program that is 13 dollars a month, for 5 years, no interest and I can not use the card anymore which is no prob for me. She said the Gatekeeper will look at it and I should call in a few days to see if it was accepted. My first question is what is the gatekeeper, second does that sound like a good deal. I told her my child support which takes almost all the money I have a month comes first.

It sounds like the gatekeeper is the person who would give the final approval to your hardship application. If the terms are as you say, no interest accrues (that is important), then it seems like a great way for you to pay your debt.

I would suggest that you pay it off as quickly as you can but ALWAYS make the minimum payment. The moment you are late with even one payment, don't be surprised to see your favorable terms go out the window.

It is good to see that you were proactive with this debt. You are a great example to other people looking for help on this forum. If only others would actually called their creditors to speak about alternative terms and programs when an unfortunate situation arises, instead of ignoring them or running from them then I can almost guarantee totally different outcomes.

take care, ana
