Collecting loaned money from a friend

Hi,

I have a question. I lent a friend $1000 two days ago and it was agreed that I would be paid $1000 back within 24 hours. It has been two days and I have left several (10 or so) messages on his cell phone. He has not returned my calls. There were two witnesses present when the agreement was made. I know I should have had it in writing but I didn't. Is there any legal action I can take against him so I can get my money back? Thanks in advance. All your comments are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you just found out how much your friendship was worth...

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do, other than to file a small claims lawsuit against the friend. Even then, you're not guaranteed any money back.

Try going to their place of work and confronting them (in a calm manner).
