What is the name of your state?Alabama. My son has recently received a letter from a collection agency concerning a debt to a college which should have been covered by student loans. My son last attended college the fall of 2000.Up until this point we have not received any notice from the school notifying us that the debt existed. Also, the collection agency is hounding and being very rude and unprofessional to my son and his wife. Is there a statue of limitation on the debt? Do we have any legal recourse concerning the debt and the manner in which the collection agency is handling the matter?

"Is there a statue of limitation on the debt?"
*** Yes. However, to determine what it is, we would have to know the SOURCE of the obligation. Simply, was it a written contract (likely), an oral contract, or was this a student loan issue??

"Do we have any legal recourse concerning the debt and the manner in which the collection agency is handling the matter?"
*** No, 'we' don't have any recourse. However, HE may have some depending on a review of the FULL facts of the issue. For example, if this contact was by a 3rd party collector as you say, then their conduct would fall under the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act) which can be found at: http://www.ftc.gov/

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

State of Alabama.I have paperwork showing the student loan disbursement dates to Alabama A&M University, however, for whatever reason, the funds were not utilized. Because we were never notified of the debt, does the statue of limitations apply and if so, are we responsible for late fees and collection fees? Thank you for your response. I am trying to resolve this matter appropriately as the collection agency is still hounding.
