| I live in Michigan. A defaulted rent payment was sold to a collection agency about 4 years ago. The agency contacted me, and I paid the agency. I have a letter saying that if I pay X by Y date, the debt will be settled. I also have the follow up letter that says they have recieved the money, and are closing the debt. The thing is, the debt still shows open on my credit report, and they refuse to return my calls. What can I do, legally speaking? |
