| There are some options. The easiest is to pay them off. You can go through the hassle of reporting them to your states attorney general's office for harrassment but it will not stop the collection action. You can shut off your phone and not answer it, use an answering machine (could be useful if they are threatening physical harm), if available in your area you can enter *68 on your phone after they hang up, that puts a 24 hour call block on. You can get caller I.D. You can change your phone number. Or you can buy a phone accessory that tells callers to not call again, it is designed to be used against phone solicitors, it works for others too. Or you can buy a personal ringer box, callers are prompted to enter a code and if they don't have a code, your phone won't ring. Read the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and if they are violating it, just the threat of reporting them should make them back off. You can read it here.
