collection procedures?

Honolulu, Hawaii

What are the collection agency's procedures in collecting a debt? (Include procedures if you don't pay collection agency) Does it involve a warrent for your arrest if you don't pay?

There is no debtor's prison in the US.. not for over 100 years !
No, a collector CANNOT threaten you with arrest, that's against the law.. the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. Collectors, scum that they are, will try ANY tactic in the book to try to scare you into paying, even though many of those tactics are against the law. Know your rights under the FDCPA and you will be able to deal with collectors.

Here's a link to the FDCPA

Well, 3-5 years lin Hawaii doesn't sound too bad

Of course, that high-rise prison they built at the airport probably doesn't allow you to get too much sleep with all the plances taking off....

The only way you go to jail for a debt is if there's fraud involved.
