company refuses to cancel/refund unused services

What is the name of your state? California

Yesterday I was informed that I won 300 dollars in free services from American Laser Centers in Carlsbad CA and was scheduled a free no obligation consultation. I went to the consultation and found out I had to purchase a package and my 300 dollars would be applied to it. I was also told if I singed up right away I could get 25 percent off the entire treatment and that they could get me a no interest credit card to finance it. By the time I walked out I ended up with a chage for 2,069.56. As soon as I got home I realized that not only did I not really want the services but I couldn't really afford them. I have called the company and was told that there was nothing they could do because it is a nonrefundable service. I am trying to get a hold of someone "higher up" than the lady who sold me the package but was wondering if this is a normal busness practice and am I just out of luck or should I be able to cancel since I have not even used any of the services yet so they are not out any money. In fact I don't even have an appointment scheduled yet.

If you could just give me an idea of what my options are I would appreciate it

Quite frankly, you got scammed. Do you have copies of papers you signed for these 'services' ? Is there a contract of any sort ? You must act fast. IF you have any right of recission, it's usually a very short window, probably no more than 3 days and it will be included in a contract. You could also try calling the state attorney general and see if there's anything that can be done. If you do have a right of recision, you MUST put it IN WRITING.. a phone call won't be enough !

CA is pretty consumer friendly, so don't waste any time !
