| Sorry, but the CC companies are not obligated to accept anything less than what you agreed to pay in your CC agreement. If you don't make some arrangements with them to lower your payments and/or interest rates, then they can charge-off your account at 180 days of insufficient or non-payment. Yes, they can sue you, but that normally doesn't happen until after they've sic'd the collection agency dogs on you for awhile after charge-off. Unless its Discover, they sue right away.
Your best bet is to call the cc people and ask to be put on one of their hardship programs. Typically they will reduce the interest rate and your payments for a set period of time. The re-age the account and make it current once they put on on the program. The catch is you MUST make the payments you agree to and you MUST make them on time, otherwise the deal is off and you're right back where you started.
