Contract question

I bought an engagement ring for my fiance and financed it through the jewelry store. I was told 3 different times that the first year would be interest free. I signed a contract and on the contract, it sayes interest free for 12 months. The salesperson said she would get all my papers and appraisals together for me and have them ready for me when I came and picked up my ring in a couple of weeks. Whenever I got my ring and papers, I looked on the contract and she had scratched off the "2" and changed "1" to a "3". So now my ring is only interest free for 3 months instead of 12. I know this has to be against the law to change a contract after it has been signed. What should I do?

That depends largely on what they said when you asked them about their alteration of the contract. So, what EXACTLY did they say??

I havnt talked to them about it yet. I didnt know what I should tell them or how to approach the situation. Any suggestions?

Yep. Start with.... "Can you answer a question for me?". Then go from there.
