credit card balance liability

hello, i'm in the state of kansas.

four years ago, i ended a relationship with my boy-
friend. i thought that i had removed my name from all
of our joint credit card accounts, but obviously i
missed one. since then, he has charged over $9,000
on this card, then stopped payments on it due to
financial problems. the account has been frozen by
the bank, and they are trying to garnish my paycheck.

my question: am i legally responsible for his debt,
since i did not sign anything stating that i was
responsible? (he called the bank and had my name
added to his account.) thanks very much!
