Question

credit card charge off

What is the name of your state? Texas
On my credit report a credit card company has a remark:transferred to another lender or claim purchased....payment status: charge off...i am not proud of this ,but i went through a traggic time,i contacted the company but since i was with a debit consoladation co,they said too bad. Now I have been contacted by another company that said they were filing suit and would put a lien on my property!! can a third party do this if the credit card company has it in charge off, if so how can i fix it,thank you ccckristen

The debt has been charged off. That means the creditor does not believe they will collect the money. If it is assigned to a collection agency, you MAY be able to get them (originsl creditor) to take it back. If they sold it, you will deal with the collection agency.

How old is this debt and what is it for?
