Credit Card Company Rejected My Fraud Claim. What is the name of your state? Oklahoma Someone got ahold of my credit card information and used it to make over $500 worth of fraudulent charges to my account over the internet. As soon as I discovered what happened, I contacted the credit card company and disputed the charges. Well today I received a letter fom the credit card company Fraud Department investigator informing me that my fraud claim had been denied because, and I quote: "We contacted the merchant and learned that your personal information was used to place the order. Based on this we have determined that you benefited from this account or it's use." Well duh, didn't he have enough sense to figure out that whoever had my credit card number also had my personal information? How could he assume that because my personal information was used to place the order that I benefited from it? Can anyone give me any advice on how I should proceed in dealing with the credit card company in order to to get things straighted out? Should I re-file my dispute claim? I am willing to take the matter to small claims court if need be. Thanks, poorboy in Oklahoma |

| In the voice of an Oklahoma woman, with a heavy "twang" accent: "Once I got her credit card, I hit the ritziest home shoppin' channel on T.V.! I got two Black Hills gold ankle bracelets, stirrup pants . . . Oh! And a set of those press-on nails with diamonds built right in! Now, I know it's wrong . . . but, I do not care! I feel like the prettiest girl (sniff, sniff) . . . in the whole trailer park." IAAL |
