credit card debt

What is the name of your state? virginia

Thanks to all who provided answers. However, I have some that were not answered and a few more. If the credit card co sues me on a unsecured balance and wins, can they garnish my disability pension? Also, can they seize or put a lein on property that is jointly owned where the other spouse had no credit problems? I was told by the credit card co that they were going to just write it off as a bad debt, what does that mean? If they are doing that then why do they call me 20 times a day wanting payment? Can a joint bank account be seized when the other spouse has no problems?

The CC company writes it off as a bad debt to balance their books, but it doesn't mean they aren't going to try to collect the $$. They may have even sold it to an outside agency, so now you have a new creditor who wants a piece of you. They can put a lien on any joint account, even if your spouse has perfect credit and no problems. I am not sure of the provisions for your propery, however.
