Credit card question

What is the name of your state? Ny

Alright I am about to get a new credit card, and personally i do alot of internet transactions..i would like to know which credit card would protect me from id theft (or the best one out there) and other risk that are involved with purchases made through the internet. My second concern was...if i get a debit card and only use that to buy from online and some how my info is stolen would my information for the credit card be stolen too??

(note: right now i am a college student.)

You protect yourself from ID theft by being a smart consumer and making sure you are only using secure websites when entering personal information, shredding paper that includes personal info before putting it in the garbage, reviewing account statements regularly for odd purchases, be aware of email scams such as phishing, and etc...

Read this: http://www.consumer.gov/idtheft/con_minimize.htm

ID Theft is a pain because the burden of proof seems to usually fall on the victim and it can take months to straighten out. You need to rely on smarts rather than a CC Company to keep it from happening to you.

Thats my advice at least.

All that Evil Wizard said and this. If you get ripped off and it's a charge, the theives have the CC's money, not yours, and you dispute. With a debit card, theives have your money, big difference.
